Peterboro Basket Company

Peterboro Basket Company, started by Amzi Childs more than 150 years ago in Peterborough, NH. The business survived a fire in 1891, and has lasted to this day—in part through the help of Henry B. Needham, known as the “dean” of the basket-manufacturing business in Peterborough. The company handcrafts its wares from select, local ash trees and inspects every basket several times to ensure excellent quality. It’s made everything from 34-bushel baskets (which could hold about ten people) to “track baskets,” which were used to collect trash from the NYC subway tracks—but we are most enamored of the bike baskets which are sturdy yet chic and lend rustic charm to our bicycles.
